Owner Tom McKenna of Judge Lanier Racing will announce the future racing plans for Conquest Mo Money today at 1 p.m. in the Sunland Park Racetrack and Casino Turf Club.
A press conference will take place as McKenna elaborates on the next assignment for his star three-year-old Thoroughbred.
Conquest Mo Money, arguably one of the finest locally developed Thoroughbreds in Sunland Park history, has run five races for so this year. He broke his maiden at Sunland Park on January 9 and parlayed that into a romping 11-length victory in the $100,000 Riley Allison Derby. He raised the stakes in $100,000 Mine That Bird Derby and defeated Irap by 2 lengths in a knockout performance. Irap went on to win the Blue Grass Stakes (Gr. II) at Keeneland earlier this month.
On March 26, the $8,500 Keeneland November 2016 purchase was a courageous second behind Hence in the $800,000 Sunland Derby (Gr. III) and bounced right back on April 15 to finish a very close second in the $1 million Arkansas Derby (Gr. I) behind Breeders’ Cup Juvenile winner Classic Empire at Oaklawn Park. In less than 4 months, the son of Uncle Mo has earned $508,900. His record shows 3 wins and 2 seconds from 5 starts. Conquest Mo Money is a 2-time stakes winner and twice Graded Stakes placed.
The Conquest Mo Money story is one of the most impressive local racing achievements to come along in years. The colt has accumulated 60 qualifying points to the 2017 Kentucky Derby.
Former Sunland Park riding champion Miguel Hernandez is his trainer. Jorge Carreno has been the rider for Conquest Mo Money in all five starts.
