BELMONT
Race 7 – (6) SAMMY WONDER STONE beat up on softer company last time out over this course. The Cal-bred son of Good Journey has rattled off six straight in-the-money efforts since returning to action last year. Claimed out of his most recent start, he figures to be close to the pace over a track playing favorably to speed types, gets one of the colony's leading riders and figures to offer a bit of value in a wide open sprint. (2) NOBLE AND TRUE comes off a well-beaten second place finish last out and also goes first out for a new barn off the claim. Shortening up off the mile effort last out, the son of Giant's Causeway has never sprinted in his career, but may be asked to do too much to early to keep pace. Only off the board once in eight career starts, he'll be prominent at the head of the lane. (5) CINDERELA EL CROME showed plenty of early speed in his comeback from a 2-month layoff before tiring late and settling for a well-beaten second. If he got anything out of that race, he'll be out there pushing things once again. (4) I GET SMOOTH has won two straight earlier this spring at the Fair Grounds then at Oaklawn Park. He appears to be training well at Monmouth Park for his return to action.
Race 8 ** TURF ONLY** – (8) TIZ A KITTEN has been fairly consistent in all her recent starts, having finished first or second in four straight appearances. The daughter of Proud Citizen is back on the Belmont turf today, and may be set for a big effort. She'll do her best running from off the pace. (4) ABOUT THAT BASE returns to the turf for trainer Todd Pletcher after a pair of solid efforts on the inner dirt at Aqueduct before a Belmont in a race taken off the turf. Her previous grass efforts notwithstanding, willing to give her another chance in wide-open spot. (9) ALABAMA BOUND didn't run a jump in the lane last out coming back to the races. Prior to that effort, she'd been in the money in five straight turf routes. She's trained OK since that effort at Aqueduct and has a right to improve.
