The first photo is a dual shot of sports broadcaster Robert Lee alongside a photo of Confederate Army commander Robert E. Lee.
It's fairly obvious there is no family connection.
The sportscaster was scheduled to be part of the play-by-play team next weekend on ESPN for a football game between University of Virginia and William & Mary.
Lee has been taken off that game assignment. On Tuesday, multiple reliable sources indicated Lee was taken off the broadcast by the network apparently reacting to sensitivity over the man's name when compared to Confederate Army commander Robert E. Lee, who's statue was a focal point in riots earlier this month at the Charlottesville-based school.
The second photo is of an official statement from ESPN confirming said reports.
By the way, ESPN currently employs another man named Bob Ley. His picture is also attached. He's only worked for the network for nearly 40 years. His credentials are unquestioned and impeccable. I hope his job is safe.
Dear Jon Jones,
You have got to be kidding me!!!
AGAIN???
I always had a sneaking suspicion you were kind of your own worst enemy.
Last night's news pretty much confirmed it.
My first reaction to the news of the trade involving Kyrie Irving to the Celtics in exchange for Isaiah Thomas going to the Cavaliers was that I'm kind of rooting for the Cavaliers now.
Let me rephrase. I'm cheering more for Thomas. I couldn't care any less about the ongoing LeBron James saga, but I'm kind of a fan of Thomas, so I hope this move works out well for him.
Have I told you lately how glad I will be when all this is over???
