Crazy Good Advice -- August 21, 2018

Dear Steve,

I’ve been seeing this really cool lady for nearly two years. We’re really cool with one another, but I’ve been offered a good job about three hours from here. It is a job I’ve been wanting for a long time, with retirement, pension and other benefits. Once I get in and there’s an opening back here, I can apply and move back. But my girlfriend doesn’t want me to accept the job because she says long-distance relationships don’t work. I told her I’m willing to try, but is it selfish of me to accept the job in spite of being in a relationship with someone I want a future with, knowing it could possibly break us up??
