The quote of the month may belong to Kansas City Chiefs coach Andy Reid, who said last week of Tyreek Hill, "I’m not here to judge, I’m here to coach." That’s an even more compelling statement in light of news this week that charges won’t be filed against Hill on allegations of child abuse, though investigators said they believe a crime was committed. But hey, at least your fantasy team is safe.
To be fair, I do believe most sports fans have some sort of moral compass. Fans don't want their athletes to be bad guys. They don't want them to be unpatriotic. They don't want them to be abusers, manipulators, or criminals.
But there are a large number of fans out there willing to let some bad behaviors slide, so long as it doesn't negatively impact the team they're cheering for, or more importantly, the team they may be financially invested in.
