Check out this weekend's NFL best bets (Last week: 2-1)
(Over 46 1/2) WASHINGTON vs. Dallas
As impressed as I was with the Cowboys efficiency over the NY Giants last weekend, the perception of Washington as some sort of walkover is misguided at best. HC Jay Gruden seems to have tailored an offense that QB Case Keenum appeared to be comfortable with, combined with a running game that might not take too big a hit replacing injured Guice with veteran Adrian Peterson. Defensively, Redskins will need to be better than they were last week against Eagles. That will not be an easy task if Cowboys QB Dak Prescott comes close to repeating last week's brilliant effort. Look for both teams to put points on the board. Washington has not won a home opener since 2014.
Seattle (+3 1/2) over PITTSBURGH
Got burned by the Hawks last week, who failed to cover in a tough win over the Bengals. Now going on the road to face an angry Steelers squad coming off an embarrassing loss to defending Super Bowl champion New England. Defensively, Seattle got rolling in second half which bodes badly for Pittsburgh offense which struggled in season opener. Seattle D will be pressed to do better job in getting Steelers off the field than they did last week (Cinci 36-24 minute advantage in time of possession). Seahawks have favorable record ATS as a road underdog.
Philadelphia (-1 1/2) over ATLANTA
Falcons defense struggled to control a minimal passing attack last week in season opener against Vikings. Now they'll face an aerial assault from Eagles squad that put up 300+ yards and three scoring strikes last week against Washington. Falcons offense will need to get off to faster start than they did last week, which eliminated more balanced attack and took running game out of commission. QB Ryan tossed a pair of TD's and interceptions in opener but was compromised by OL that gave up four sacks. Eagles defense will be equally as aggressive.
