Colin Cowherd: Jerry Jones is Killing the Cowboys Franchise

Colin Cowherd: “What makes a great friend makes a lousy NFL owner. I want my friends to be fun and loyal. What makes a great owner? Not really into ‘fun’ in New England. I like them ‘bottom line’, and I don’t want them too loyal. ‘Gotta cut that guy.’ ‘Can’t pay that guy.’ Jerry Jones is a great FRIEND. He’s a bad owner, and he’s gotten worse. Dallas is the only iconic brand in American sports that I don’t see turning this around any time soon. Iconic brands are fast healers, but the Cowboys are trapped because they have a great ‘friend’ in Jerry Jones. He’s emotional, he’s fun, and he’s loyal, but he is not a good owner. You got ‘good’ players getting HUGE money all over the place and Jerry feels that loyalty and pays guy. Drafting Ceedee Lamb was FUN… They don’t need a wide receiver, and needed a cornerback, a good safety, or an offensive tackle. New England is a bottom line team. Emotion is weakness, and fun is viewed as silly. That’s what I want from my owner. The truth is that they should rip it down to the studs in Dallas and start over. Outside of wide receiver where are they great? They haven’t gotten to a conference championship in 25 years. If you look at the other teams who haven’t gotten to a conference championship in 25 years, those are the teams we make fun of. It's time to rip it down to the studs and start over but there is too much pride, too much fun, too much loyalty, and too much emotion.” (Full Video Above)

Listen to Colin Cowherd explain why he thinks Jerry Jones encapsulates all the characteristics of being a great ‘friend’, but an awful owner, as Colin thinks the Cowboys need to rebuild the entire roster and start over.

Check out the video above as Colin details why Jerry is too loyal, too emotional, and too ‘fun’ to ever be an effective CEO.
