SUNRAY PARK
Race 6 – (3) EXPLOSIVE SPY ran badly last time out as the favorite at Sunland Park in a fast 6 furlong sprint. I expect the pace to be a bit more controlled here, which should favor the more forwardly placed running style of the Dan Dennison trainee. Alfredo Juarez, Jr., one of the meet's leading riders, gets the call on board today. This has been a strong rider-trainer team for some time. Expect improvement in puzzling opening leg to late Pick 4.
Race 8 – (5) LOOKS TO SPARE was a romping winner against softer company down at Sunland Park last time out. A 9-time winner from 29 career starts, he seems to be adapting well to his new home state, having won three times from six starts in New Mexico. David Lopez has quickly made a name for himself here as well this season. Don't expect that 8-to-1 morning line price to hold up.
