The Cubs Skipped A Step And Were Too Good Too Soon

Sometimes, losing can benefit a club. It builds inner strength, and feeds a burning desire to never feel the pain of loss. The Cubs won the World Series in 2016, but hadn't been there in a long time before that. They never had to go through the pain of watching others celebrate a championship right in front of them.

Doug Gottlieb shares his thoughts on why he believes it's better for a team to feel the pain before they taste the champagne. There have been other teams similar to this years Cubs team, such as the 2012 Oklahoma City Thunder and the 2016 Dallas Cowboys. They were all simply too good, too soon. It doesn't mean the Cubs can't get back to a World Series, but their awful performance against the Dodgers in the NLCS raises some questions about the expectations that were placed upon them.
